MECO custom-engineered mechanical shaft seals solve some of the most common and case-specific complex sealing problems the industry has to offer. Tolerating 6.35mm and more of diametric runout, MECO Seals eliminate the problems usually associated with traditional pump seals, mechanical packing and lip seals.
In food and pharmaceutical applications, MECO seals eliminate process contamination and because of their cool-running, prevent thermal damage to sensitive process materials. On process drying equipment, MECO seals drastically reduced process times due to the seal's effective vacuum performance. In abrasive media, MECO seals have outstanding performance in comparison to all other seal systems.
The unique features of these patented sealing systems have been implemented successfully by FTL Technology to solve a variety of difficult applications, across a wide variety of processes. For each seal installation, FTL Technology engineers work closely with the customer to make sure the correct seal and materials are specified.
MECO seal offers split and unsplit shaft seals for rotating process machinery including, mixer seals, dryer seals, conveyors seals, extruder seals, blender seals, paper pulper seals as well as seals for explosive environments following European ATEX standards.
MECO models effectively seal dry powders, bulk materials, pastes, slurries, liquids and vapors, including aromatic hydrocarbons. Sanitary models are available for food and pharmaceutical applications along with models for ATEX environments as well as air-free models. Most MECO seal models are manufactured fully-split, permitting installation and rebuilding without bearing or drive removal. These seals are available with FDA-approved materials.

MECO seal configuration
MECO seals operate on a plane perpendicular to the shaft, so there is no relative motion between the shaft and seal. MECO Seals eliminate the shaft abrasion and the high operating temperatures typical of mechanical packing.
